Quilter’s Wish List

We’re coming to the end of 2018, and it has been a fantastic year for quilting! I’m in the middle of so many quilting projects, which includes quilts, patterns, a book. (books?)

As I dream about the next year of quilting, I started to search for notions I would want to add to my sewing room. There are so many fun gadgets, tools and equipment out there for quilters, it is hard to narrow down the choices and buy what is best for your own studio. Here are the Top 5 Items on *my* Quilter’s Wish List:

  1. The Thread Director. www.thethreaddirector.com $24.99 + S&H A device that attaches to your sewing machine to guide the thread as it comes from the spool, preventing twisting and helping to avoid breakage.
  2. 45mm Ergo Cutter by Martelli. martellinotions.com $24.99 S&H but they are on sale right now for $14.99. OK, I already have one, but who wouldn’t want two? Also available in a left hand model, this cutter has made it easier for my tender hands to cut since I first found it at Quilt Market in 2005. This ergonomic rotary cutter has to be the most innovative quilting cutting invention ever.
  3. Oh Sew! Stash n Store by It’s Sew Emma. www.itssewemma.com Priced at around $10, this little gadget is hard to get your hands on! I heard they sold out in Houston. But if you can find it, what an organizer it is. Safely stick your tools in this compact silicone holder.
  4. Oliso Pro. www.oliso.com $169.99 with free shipping. This is the fanciest iron I’ve ever seen, and the iTouch technology makes it a super smart choice for quilters. Leave the iron plate on your fabric, and little feet push it up so the fabric doesn’t get scorched. See? Totally smart. And cute. Of course, I want pink, but the Pro is available in yellow too.
  5. HQ Simply Sixteen by HandiQuilter. handiquilter.me Around $7,000. Not in my foreseeable budget, this is the type of small LAQM I would want. I like doing free motion quilting on my domestic machine because I can design quilting patterns as a I go. I’m not so much into pantographs or program and go, so this machine would be just fine for my needs.
